John O'Connor

John O’Connor’s main theatrical interests lie in acting, directing and playwriting, but he has also designed sets for productions in a variety of venues, including the Oxford Playhouse, England. He has directed a number of his own theater adaptations, including Silas Marner, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Canterbury Tales. In 2001 he set up an acting group, Cakes and Ale, which each summer performs a Shakespeare play in a variety of venues in and around Oxfordshire. When not hanging around theatres, he teaches courses on American Shakespeare for Cornell University, and Shakespeare in Performance for Oxford University. He can also be heard performing roles on the audio version of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy.
